What is Homeopathic Treatment and Does it Actually Work?

Homeopathic treatment regains popularity

Homeopathic treatment encourages the body to heal itself. Conventional medicine tends to look at the symptoms of disease and tries to heal the body by suppressing these symptoms. As patients of conventional medicine, we have become used to going to the doctor for medication to make us feel better. Homeopathy, on the other hand may actually encourage the symptoms of disease, believing that this will help the body cure the disease faster. This can be uncomfortable for a short while until the body adjusts.

When people become disillusioned with conventional medical practices and medications, they begin searching for an alternative. Many find homeopathic treatment suits them better to manage and even cure all sorts of health problems. However it is best to have an understanding about just what homeopathy treatment is and how it differs from conventional medicine before making any commitment.

Homeopathic treatment does not treat the symptoms of disease, it treats symptoms like the warning signals they are and encourages the symptoms as part of the healing treatment. Instead of recommending cough syrup to suppress coughing, a homeopath would prescribe a small amount of a substance to encourage coughing, so that the body could rid itself of excess mucus and phlegm. The lungs would then be clear and free to heal themselves.

Some people baulk at the idea of taking even small doses of disease causing substances, but the tiny doses have no side effects. This method has been successfully used on people of all ages and races and even animals such as cats, dogs, and horses. This does away of any claims of a “placebo effect”.

Why don’t more people use homeopathic treatment?

The question then is – If homeopathy is so effective, why aren’t we all visiting homeopathic doctors? The fact is homeopathy is extremely popular in many parts of the world and used to be also popular in the U.S. But, as with most things, it came down to money. The American Medical Association (AMA), when still in it’s infancy, felt threatened by the popularity of homeopathy and basically conducted a witch hunt. They tried to tarnish the reputation of homeopaths and discredit them.homeopathic treatment

So homeopathy didn’t become unpopular because it didn’t work, or because it’s methods were outdated and ineffective, quite the opposite in fact. Homeopathy became the victim of a deliberate smear campaign implemented by the AMA. Homeopaths were putting quite a dent in the in the ability of conventional doctors to get enough patients, so the AMA implemented a campaign to discredit any homeopathic practitioners. Sound familiar?

Homeopathic treatment is perfectly safe

Homeopathic treatments are safe and effective for a range of health issues. The other important thing to bear in mind if you’re considering homeopathic treatments is that there are no side effects from using them. That means they are perfectly safe for young children, pregnant women and they can even be used in conjunction with many conventional medications. Homeopathic treatments simply work and as such will remain popular with those who seek relief from their health issues.
