Natural Birth For Twins?

  • Sharebar

I’m 16 weeks pregnant with twins, and maybe I’m watching too much of A Baby Story, but a lot of mothers seem to have a c-section for twins, and I was wondering, has anyone given natural birth to twins?
I’m going to be a single mother, and the only person I have to really help me are my parents, so going natural would help so much, since I know the healing process for a c-section takes weeks.
Also, any advice on twins? This is my first pregnancy.
Thank you!!!

I had my twins vaginally, (with the help of an epidural, of course) and to tell you the truth it was easier than my singleton, because they weighed less, and I already knew what to expect…As long as the one on the bottom (twin A) isn’t breech, they told me if the 2nd twin was breech, they could flip him after twin a was born…but they were both in the correct position….They will do ultrasounds all the way up to birth, to make sure they aren’t breech…..My boys weighed 6 lbs 5 oz. and 6 lbs. 13 oz….my daughter weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz…..When you first get home, you will be tempted just to feed them on demand….But after a couple of nights of sleep deprivation, The best way to do it is…when one wakes up, wake the other up, and change and feed both, then at least you will get a couple hours of sleep in between feedings…my boys were up every hour on the hour (taking turns of course), but in the long run, It is sooooo fun, once you get past the first few months, you will do just fine…If i had to do it again, I would want twins…again…email me if you want, vanessafleming9611@yahoo.com Good luck, and Congrats..

a lot of people deliver twins by c section because its more risky to deliver twins vaginally because of their positions.
its very hard to get both babies into the birthing position so most of the time doctors recommend that the babies are delivered by c section.
and since twins are more of a high risk pregnancy doctors like to make the delivery as smooth as possible, which usually consists of a c section.
if you are really into having a natural birth tell your doctor and ask him if it would be possible and how safe it would be to deliver vaginally.
    congrats and good luck!

I gave birth to twins naturally, at home with a midwife and it was my first pregnancy. Some twin pregnancies are high risk but a lot are not. Frankly, C-section is overused… 30% of first time pregnancies in the US are delivered via C-section and medical professionals like my husband are worried about these needless procedures as our infant mortality rate is incredibly high compared to nations where child birth is a natural process.
I recommend that you go to a midwife as well as an O.B. to create your birth plan. This way you have the best of both worlds.

I had a c-section with my boys but I know many people that did have their twins vaginally. So it is possible and is actually the best option if possible because a c-seciton is a major surgery.
As far as advice, try and get them on the same schedule as soon as possible other wise you will always be doing something with one or the other and never have a second to relax. Not that you have mcuh time for that but try and sleep when they do. Take any ones offer of help because you will need it. I am also a single mom to twins and wouldnt have it any other way. feel free to email me if you have any other questions because I have been through many of the things you will be encountering. chickenwing_18@yahoo.com

I have not had the pleasure of birthing twins but I do have 2 children. I know several people who’ve given birth vaginally (using the term naturally means without an epidural or other pain medicine). It can be done. Express to your doctor now how important that is to you and ask him for his support.

Depends on their position, but it can be done.
I tried, delivered Twin A natrually but twin B was still breech and had to have a section for her.
Chances are that you will labor and deliver IN the OR in the event a section is necessary.

  7. hi hun i to am pregnant with twins, allot of these mothers opt for a c-section on that show some times you do have to have a c-section but i think it just depends on your body and your dr good luck i wish us all happy and healthy births

Did you mean a vaginal birth as opposed to a c-section? If you’re able to, I would definantly suggest a vaginal birth. Congragulations and good luck!!

  9. yes but the chances of giving birth naturally are very slim.only a few twin pregnancies go naturally but they usually have c-sections

As long as they aren’t breech there shouldn’t be a problem. A friend of mine delivered twins naturally.

Congrats! It’s possible to have a vaginal birth, it all depends on the position of the babies.

When you are 35 weeks along the doctor or midwives will let you know if your child(children) are breech. this is nothing to worry about. all that means is that the child has not turned upside down for the head to be in the pubic area.
if the baby that is closest to the “opening” (so to speak) is NOT breech then you are able to have a natural birth. if the child turns out to be breech you would need to have a c section.
I have 3 children. 2 of them are 3 yrs. old and i had my twins naturally at the age of 17. it was hard especially since yes i was a single mother as well.
2 months ago i had a little boy but it was a c-section. it was not that bad. it does not hurt to have it done, you are sore for a few weeks after words and you will need help getting up and moving about for about a week.
I am currently a single mother again. you honestly dont need the father to be a great mother. you will do just fine.
just make sure you walk alot!! walking helps with the delivery, if you stay healthy the faster you will recover.
if you need to talk some more just let me know. i will help you in any way i can :)
