How to Recongnize the Main Symptoms of Diabetes

  • Sharebar

Diabetes is a disease that affects a lot of people of all ages. There are two forms of Diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is mostly hereditary and genetic. Type 2 is usually the result of lifestyle and environmental factors. While the disease is not always totally curable, for the most part it can be avoided for quite some time. One of the best ways to get as much control over the disease as possible is to learn how to recognize the major diabetes symptoms.

Once you know how to identify the major symptoms of this disorder you stand a better chance of controlling it and not letting it affect your life in any major way. By the way, low-glycemic foods are extremely important. We highly recommend Shakeology. It tastes really good and there are a lot of excellent Shakeology recipes to check out.

The most obvious symptom of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes is that the body no longer produces insulin the way it is supposed to. Still, this is not as apparent as, say, the symptoms from the common flu. Often, this is only discovered when you visit your medical professional for another issue. The lower amount of insulin is discovered when blood testing is done or when you have your organs tested. Type 1, which typically gets diagnosed when a person is fairly young is often times observed when a medical physician is trying to diagnose a common virus.

Are you more easily irritated and don’t know why? Issues with your blood sugar levels could be causing the unexplainable irritability. Unstable blood sugar levels are a big sign that you may be developing diabetes. The body stops processing food correctly when you become diabetic which can lead to irritability. Have you doctor test you for diabetes and hypoglycemia if you can’t find a reason for your mood swings.

Type 1′s biggest symptoms and signs of onset include nausea, vomiting and dehydration. These usually happen when the body stops producing insulin or the potassium levels get crazy. Type diabetes, also called juvenile onset diabetes, happens because of genetics and heredity and not typically from factors that can be regulated. If your child seems to have a stomach illness and is undergoing some different personality quirks, asking your doctor to have him or her tested for diabetes is a wise decision. A pediatrician will most likely do some trial testing anyways, just to eliminate the possibility of the illness.

It is true that symptoms of diabetes can vary from person to person. This is because there are different types of diabetes and because the disease affects everybody differently. There are cases where the only reason the diabetes was discovered was the person was undergoing other tests. Others suffer through all of the symptoms and are misdiagnosed a few times before the doctor gets it right. It is important to have a clear discussion with your doctor if you have any of these symptoms. Before you go, don’t forget to check out our article on P90X and Shakeology.
