How Many Hours Of Sleep Should I Get Every Night?

  • Sharebar

I am 15 years old about to turn 16 in October and I normally fret over how much sleep I get. I take medication which helps me sleep at night but I wake up at 6:00 on weekdays so I normally go to bed around 8 depending on when i took my medicine. I know I overdo it and get 9 or 10 hours a night. How many hours should I be sleeping every night to feel well slept?

  1. ?Mystery? ?Gir?? says:

7-8 hrs, as you get older it’s okay to push it and go for 6 hrs. BUT if you don’t get enough sleep for a really long time, it increases risks of getting cancer.

Sleep experts say that teens should get 9-10 hours of sleep, but don’t listen to what they all say. I never got 10 hours in my life. The most I slept was 8.5 hours. Usually, I get between 6-7 hours which is good for me. I can get as low as 5 hours though. I recommend for you to see how you feel with certain hours, then you can determine it from there. Some people need more some need less.

doctors usually said atleast 8 hours, because any more or any less will make you tired, cuz you’ll feel like you slept too much or too little. Also if you have a nap, the best nap time is 20 minutes, any more or any less will end up with the same result

    8 hrs.

i would think everyone needs at least 7-8 hours to be rested and awake during the day.

Anthony is the closest to being right, the rest of you need to go back and study a bit more. Newborns tend to sleep only a few hours, 4-7 tend to sleep ten or eleven hours, then 7-18 is about 8 or nine hours. Ages from there up tend to need a little less sleep, seven or eight hours normally.

  7. James says:

An American study linked life spans with sleep amount and found that those who sleep 4 to 7 hours live the longest, with those sleeping less than 4 or more than 9 hours living shorter lives. The National Sleep Foundation however, maintains that 8 hours of sleep is optimal, claiming improved performance in tests, reduced risk of accidents and a better immune system.

I’d go with the new science, rather then the old to be honest. You could have a look at this website, I found it quite interesting:
