There are many anti aging techniquesand products to buy that claim to make you look and sometimes even feel younger. These products are very popular, however there is some debate as to the actual effectiveness of them in terms of taking years off your appearance. Although, there are a rare few products on the market which, when tested seem to work, usually the ones containing natural ingredients.

However, anti-aging products can be very costly to buy and many foods contain exactly the same useful vitamins and minerals at a much cheaper price. The intake of these vital nutrients is also better for the body as, if consumed they are already in your system and you do not have to rely on absorption by the skin, which is not so good in humans. The most effective anti-aging ingredients found in food are known to be:

  • Antioxidants as these are systematically proven to increase the neutralisation of highly reactive ions which can dramatically increase aging if they react with skin cells. Antioxidants can be found amongst dark coloured fruit and veg. For exampe – tomatoes, spinich, parsnips, and carrots, and they can also be found in some fruits – notably blueberries.
  • High Density Lipoproteins (aka HDLs) are very successful at lowering cholesterol rates. In our bloodstream they gather cholesterol from cells and deposit in our liver which breaks it down. Foods such as avocados are very high in monounsaturates and other essential nutrients which improve skin condition and help the anti aging process.
  • Drinking two litres of water a day is the one of the best anti-aging techniques around as it flushes out toxins and pollutants from our bodies so they cannot build up and react with skin cells. The more water we drink the more our skin becomes hydrated and transformed, resulting in radiant skin.
