they make a difference if your body is lacking in these supplements. otherwise, I feel it is better to get them via food. A good example is iron supplements. For me, they bother my stomach terribly but I am anemic and lack iron. However, if I get the iron from eating bran flake cereal every day(it contains nearly 100% daily requirement in each 3/4 cup portion) I don’t have any problem and my iron blood tests come out great.

I really don’t think they make a significant difference. I would say the people I know that take supplements are usually the ones that eat the worst, and are paranoid. They are also the ones that are into whatever the latest fad diet is. I think they have fallen prey to the multimillion dollar marketing agenda for supplements and diet aids. Its like insurance. We’re afraid not to, but don’t really believe in it.
If you have something wrong with you, sure, you’ll try anything.
But if you’re healthy, I think it’s BS. My moms doctor always told her it makes for expensive urine.
Supplements imply that you are missing some essential nutrients and need to take someting to compnesate. But if you are careful and watch your diet, then supplements are really unnecessary
You mean vitamin pills? Vitamin C, DEFG Multi…
No.
Because: a vitamin is a complex. That is, a part of a whole. It cannot be extracted and put in a pill. It’s a scam.
I do believe however that other supplements can. First of all, I don’t know about you, but my life is not so one-with-nature. I live in a town, walk on concrete most of the time, pollution, …. anyway, thus I am not eating my ideal diet, nor living my ideal lifestyle… so, I think that adding some spirulina, hemp seed, flax oil, nutritional yeast, or other whole food supplements,… etc. can be beneficial.
Also, often, the body needs some help as it’s trying to fight off, say, pollution… something unavoidable in this day and age. So, what are you going to do… walk around in an oxygen suit, or perhaps take some extra nutrients in the form of a suppliment?
Only if you are anemic like me and even then you need to find one that absorbs quickly so you are getting the most benefit. If you saw that segment on television where they find pounds and pounds of vitamins in the port a potties you would think twice about taking a vitamin. Most of them you absorb hardly any of it and it just comes out in your poop. Ask your medical doctor. They know.
I am anemic and I take Spatone which is a naturally occuring water that has pure iron in it from Wales. It actually works because my tests prove it, but what is nice is it has zero side effects- safe for infants, no tummy or constipation problems and absorbs into your system within 30 minutes on empty tummy. Then whatever your body doesn’t need you pee out. Simple as that.
That little ditti was for the poster that said she couldn’t take Iron. I was the same way because it made me so sick.
For the average person you don’t need extra vitamins if you are healthy. Now if you are truly lacking and blood test show it then yes you could benefit from a supplement, but making sure it absorbs well and try to get most of them from your foods.
i once read somewhere thats u won’t always get the full source just by taking supplements, i was looking to loose weight so i bought these supplements that were suppose to equal a days worth of veggies but i stopped taking them and started juicing my own veggies and felt soooo great i had instance, natural energy!!!!
Depends upon what it is. Vitamins/minerals can have a very positive effect, esp. if one’s diet is limited or they are picky. There may even be a few herbs that may be beneficial.
But other “natural” stuff? Not really. Jut b/c ti’s natural doesn’t mean it’s godo for you. Cyanide, carbon monoxide, lead, and mercury are all natural, aren’t they?
