Can Sleep Deprivation Or Insomnia Make You Age Faster?

  • Sharebar

I’m 18 and I look like I could be 30. I don’t know if it’s insomnia, stress or what it is. And is there any way to reverse it?

  1. Yes. You have to get proper rest every night. If you don’t take care of your body it can’t take care of you. Use Vitamin E oil around wrinkle zones. Eat a healthy diet and go for walks every day of at least one mile and if your into sports or more strenuous exercise so much the better. My 14 year old son complains he is tired all the time and can’t sleep at night too. And I’m telling you the same thing I tell him get some exercise every day, lay off junk food and practice relaxing totally at night. He is trying but he is not exercising and I can take him to the Doctor and she may give him some sleep aid but those are addicting and she will just tell him the same thing I say any way. Good luck to you. I do take my own advice. I am 44 and people are usually shocked when I tell them my age. My mother is 80 and can pass for 60…that’s who told me what I’m telling you.

Definitely. When you sleep is when your body does most of it’s healing and rejuvenating. There is also a substance called C-Reactive Protein that science now believes speeds up the aging process. There are a number of things that can increase it in your body… stress and lack of sleep are two biggies.
And yes… at your age… you can do a lot to reverse it… but it requires getting control of your stress and sleeping better. So if it’s that bad… see a doctor and get help.

  3. actually it is the cause of sleep deprivation and insomnia that causes accellerated aging, namely stress. There are some good types of stress that slow aging, but the types of stress that accellerate aging are all fear based, including terror, threats, perceived and potential threats (even if they don’t exist), shocking surprise, anger (which develops into rage), attachment (which develops into possessiveness), jealousy, dependency (which develops into neediness), and other similar emotions. There are also some types of physical stresses some people place on their bodies that accellerate the appearance of aging, like increased gravitational forces, and some dietary stresses that deprive the body of essential vitamins and nutrients like certain amino acids that your body uses to maintain skin elasticity (preventing wrinkles).
