My room mate is lactose intolerant and over Christmas she ate a bit too much milk (chocolate, cookies, Christmas treats etc etc) Are there any foods that would make her feel better or natural alternatives, for example I heard Ginger pills can help a yucky stomach. I’m pretty severely lactose intolerant. When I accidentally eat lactose and develop, um… problems, I find that I need to take some Immodium for a short time until it passes. Usually one minimal dose is all that I need.
If your friend has had GI upset for more than a few days, I would recommend Immodium for a day or two, to let things settle down.
In the future, make sure to have lactase supplements on hand at all times. If you take that at the same time that you eat the milk product, you will be able to digest it properly. You’ll have to experiment to figure out exactly how much lactase is needed; it’s available in a few dosage strengths.
Digestive enzymes help my good friend tremendously.
