Immune To Medicine, Any Alternatives?

February 3rd, 2010 -- Posted in Natural health care | 10 Comments »

I have come to the conclusion that I am immune to medicine, that is of course pertaining to the medicine that I have taken. Aspirin and mild pain relievers do not work on me at all. The only effect that I have ever had from them is the horrible side effect of abdominal pain. I was left with the same headache and new stomach pains. That was only from taking two pills.

I remember being prescribed strong pain relievers when I went to the dentist years ago and they wore off soon after taking them. I was told they were going to last several hours and so I should not take more than 2 a day. Again I had to spend most of the day with the side of my face in pain.

It is not only pain relievers, fever reducers have little to no effect and cough medicine just ends up leaving the bad taste in my mouth without helping the cough.
I get headaches semi-often, most of them are mild and I have learned to ignore them, but sometimes I get headaches that just are annoying and persistent. I have gone to the doctor about them and was told that it was nothing serious, but they are annoying. I just end up going to sleep to escape the discomfort.

My question is whether there are any herbal remedies or natural, possibly homeopathic products that can help with headaches that are not traditional medicine?
Some may say that the reason I am immune to medicine is because I’ve taken so many of them, but that is not the case. I almost never take medicine unless prescribed or I force myself just to see if it will work at least once. I am confident to say that this year I only took one pill that I was given from a friend when I had a headache. Needless to say after an hour without results I just went to sleep early.

Can anyone help? I am looking for someone who knows what they are talking about, not those people who do a five second google search and post the first thing that they see. Does anyone have similar reactions? What do you do to relieve headaches? Have you had success with alternative pain relieving methods.

I am mostly asking for pain relief, as I barely get sick never more than 2 times a year, almost always less. It is usually a mild cold that lasts from 3-5 days before it disappears without taking medicine.
Thank for any informed responses.
